Shiboleth LLP Forms Mergers and Acquisitions Group; Appoints Alon Harnoy to Lead the Group

Shiboleth LLP, a boutique international law firm with top-ranked transactional and litigation practices, today announced it has hired Alon Harnoy (formerly of Schulte Roth and Zabel LLP) to head its newly formed Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

Harnoy, who is Israeli born and grew up in Zimbabwe and South Africa before arriving in New Jersey as a teenager, brings with him a unique international combination of professional and life experiences. Harnoy graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics (summa cum laude) from Rutgers University, and completed law school at Columbia University. Harnoy started his professional legal career at Skadden and then practiced in London with Fried Frank where, in 2000, he left law firm practice to join a leading European music download site, iCrunch.com. Harnoy joined iCrunch as General Counsel and in 2001 became Chief Executive Officer, where he ran an auction resulting in a high-profile sale of the company to Music Choice Europe. In addition, from 2002-2005, Harnoy served as a director at the Claims Conference, the restitution organization known for securing compensation for Holocaust survivors, where he was responsible for implementing and administering a program dedicated to paying out Holocaust survivors or their heirs for unpaid life insurance proceeds.

In 2006, Harnoy returned to large law firm practice when he joined Schulte, Roth & Zabel LLP as an associate in the Business Transactions Group. Harnoy worked for over five years at Schulte with the majority of his practice representing private equity firms in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions as well as on general corporate or commercial matters for their portfolio companies.

After years of working on complex transactions for big law firms, Harnoy said that he welcomes the opportunity to head up a practice at Shiboleth where he can capitalize on both his legal and business experience. The Mergers and Acquisitions Group will complement Shiboleth's existing corporate and securities practice and further Shiboleth’s legal representation of business entities in investments and mergers and acquisitions of U.S. and foreign entities. Harnoy said that working at Shiboleth offers him the ability to provide personal attention to each client and deliver dedicated professional advice. Harnoy believes that personal connections are of paramount importance when advising clients on significant and complex transactions as such relationships help ensure that desired results are achieved.
