ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- At its February meeting, the Securian Financial Group board of directors approved four senior management appointments.
Gary Christensen, FLMI, CEBS, CLU, was appointed vice president and general counsel. Christensen , a graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, IA, joined Securian’s Human Resources department in 1984. In 1994 he graduated from the William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN, and moved to Securian’s law department. Christensen, Cottage Grove, MN, succeeds Dwayne Radel, who retired.
Pete Berlute, CPA, was named second vice president and assistant controller. He joined Securian in 2006 as director of financial reporting and accounting research. In 2010 Berlute, who lives in Minneapolis, MN, was promoted to assistant controller and his responsibilities expanded to include investment and fund accounting and regulatory accounting matters. Berlute has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH.
Mike Boyle, CLU, ChFC, was appointed second vice president, law. Boyle, who lives in Afton, MN, received his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, and joined Securian as associate counsel in 1997. He was named senior counsel in 2007 and assistant general counsel in 2009. Boyle is legal counsel for the individual life and annuity product lines and Securian Trust Company, N.A. His law degree is from Hamline University, St. Paul, MN.
Kristi Fox, St. Paul, MN, was named second vice president of the company’s group life insurance unit, with responsibility for client relationships. Fox joined Securian in 1995 and most recently served as director of group life client relationships. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, WI, and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN.
