Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Healthways Announce Long-Term Extension of Total Population Health Solutions

Business Wire, Inc.

Extended Agreement Provides Continued Health and Care Support Solutions to RMHP Members; Adds Access to Well-Being Connectℱ

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. & NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) and Healthways, Inc. (NASDAQ: HWAY) today agreed to a five-year extension of their partnership offering Healthways total population health management, including care support solutions to RMHP Members.

The long-term extension confirms the effectiveness of Healthways programs in helping RMHP Members understand their level of well-being, improve their health status and access individualized support to manage chronic illnesses. The extended agreement includes the expansion of services by providing Healthways Well-Being Connectℱ, an online behavior change portal.

“Rocky Mountain Health Plans and Healthways have a long history of comprehensive innovations designed to improve the health and well-being of our Members. We believe the total population approach is key to helping our Members realize their optimal health,” said Neil Waldron, Chief Marketing Officer and VP of Strategic Initiatives, RMHP. “The extension of our agreement with Healthways is an important component of our efforts to provide our Members the best quality, most affordable health care in Colorado.”

New! Well-Being Connect

Healthways Well-Being Connect is an online personal behavior change portal through which RMHP Members can better manage their health. Beginning in July 2012, through Well-Being Connect, RMHP Members can:

  • Understand and explore their own well-being while connecting with peers and health professionals to pursue shared goals.
  • Utilize personal well-being plans and other online tools to create and strengthen healthy behaviors through a combination of leading consumer engagement strategies and deeply embedded behavior change science.

RMHP Commercial Members living with heart failure, coronary artery disease and diabetes will continue to have access to Healthways Care Support interventions. The interventions use evidence-based approaches and one-on-one telephonic interactions with nurses and other clinicians to empower patients to adhere to their physician’s plan of care and successfully manage their illness, improving quality of care and reducing costs. RMHP will also implement a high-risk care management registry.

Members will also continue to have access to myhealthIQ, featuring an online health risk assessment, biometric data, personalized follow-up and participation incentives.

“Healthways and Rocky Mountain Health Plans are leading the way in creating total population approaches to health and care support that meet each person at their greatest points of health need and empower them to move to a better state of well-being,” said Healthways President and Chief Executive Officer Ben R. Leedle, Jr.

“We have been continually impressed by RMHP’s willingness to implement innovative approaches to improve the health and well-being of their Members,” Leedle continued. “The best solutions are based on collaborative efforts that help individuals, wherever they may be on the health continuum, avoid the next episode of care; and, when care is needed, assure that it’s provided effectively and efficiently. Both organizations are convinced the real value for Members is a result of delivering effectively integrated services. We look forward to continuing our work with RMHP for many more years.”
