The A/E firm shall, in collaboration with VA staff, accomplish Contract Drawings and Specifications, and provide Construction Period Services to design a project to construct a new 21,678 FS building, on station, for cancer care and treatment,
This contract will provide for complete design (construction documents) and comprehensive construction period services (CPS). The new system shall fully address replacement and installation of all system and component devices to meet and/or exceed all applicable The newly constructed building shall meet all ABAAS (Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards) and the Barrier Free Design Guide requirements, VA Design Guides, fire & safety codes, as well as all related building and electrical codes. Further, the project shall address an electrical condition gap identified by the station Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) to be corrected in the Capital Asset Inventory (CAI).
This new structure will be a modern energy efficient building with state of the art mechanical, plumbing, electrical, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, subsystems and components. The three-story structure shall include an elevator to access to each of the floors. Parking will be reconfigured to provide approximately ten spaces for Veterans to park adjacent the structure including handicapped spaces. An entrance drive and landscaping will be accomplished adjacent to the new structure including the appropriate security stand-off barrier requirements.
The design of the new clinic space will include improved waiting, patient exam, treatment planning, support, staff and administration areas and have improved patient circulation and flow. The project will create two Linear Accelerator vaults to expand services for Veterans with the latest state-of-art equipment technology and create much needed support space. Chemotherapy will be expanded and add an additional three stations. Oncology and Hematology examination space will expand to increase the timeliness of Veteran care for patients waiting for services. Common space will be shared by all staff to maximize building space.
This contract will provide for complete design (construction documents) and comprehensive construction period services (CPS) to include building commissioning. The design will address all infrastructure requirements for a fully functioning standalone
AE shall perform design site visits, design review meetings, etc. as needed to accomplish and facilitate each phase of the design. The AE shall incorporate the requirements of all applicable codes, including but not limited to, Fire & Life Safety,
AE shall also incorporate into the design construction bid alternates identified during the design process. Also identify in the design any phasing required to facilitate construction. Additionally, the A/E firm shall have the plans and specifications reviewed and certified by a registered Fire Protection Engineer as being in compliance with the current Life Safety Code (LSC) and applicable
