Plymouth Rock Assurance Revolutionizes Auto Insurance Experience With “Anytime, Anywhere” Mobile Device Access

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/26/10 -- Underscoring once again its commitment to technology that makes agents' and customers' lives easier, Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, a leading New England auto insurance company, today unveiled a mobile offering that enables customers to manage nearly every facet of their insurance policies using a web-enabled mobile device. Coupling next-generation consumer technology with increased customer demand for on-the-go services, Plymouth Rock now streamlines insurance management to meet the needs of customers' fast-paced lifestyles.

By simply typing plymouthrock.com into a mobile web browser, customers will automatically be directed to a mobile site that is formatted to their devices' specifications. The new Plymouth Rock mobile site features a user-friendly interface developed by Conmio (www.conmio.com), a software and services company, which also powers the mobile websites of the New York Times and National Public Radio (NPR).

As an added convenience, users of smartphones and other mobile devices can easily access Plymouth Rock Mobile Services by taking a snapshot of specially-coded posters which will soon be located in more than 400 Plymouth Rock independent agents' offices. The code-reading technology is a recent innovation that allows mobile phone users to instantly harness the power of the internet.

Available to Massachusetts and Connecticut customers, Plymouth Rock mobile eServices are designed to make the insurance process easier than ever by allowing consumers to:

  • Call to report an accident 24/7 with just one click
  • View and pay a bill online
  • Find, call or map and get directions to a local Plymouth Rock agent's office
  • View a policy
  • Talk to a customer service representative during normal business hours with just one click

"Plymouth Rock is committed to providing agents and customers with the latest technology that will make doing business with us easier than ever," said Chris Olie, President, Plymouth Rock Assurance. "Allowing consumers to use a mobile phone to report a claim, find an agent or view and pay a bill is just another example of Plymouth Rock's commitment to delivering more than just insurance. Now, we're there even when our customers are on the go."

Today's news underscores the company's longstanding reputation as a technology leader in the insurance sector. Plymouth Rock already hosts seminars to help agents engage customers and the community using online platforms, and in the coming months plans to introduce an iPhone application with enhanced mobile capabilities.

"We have built this offering to provide our customers with the same experience they would get if they were sitting in front of their computer," said Paul Luongo, President & Chief Information Officer, Plymouth Rock Assurance. "As our customers' habits continue to change, we will focus on upgrading our mobile eServices capabilities and putting technology to use in innovative ways that make their lives easier."
