Philadelphia Business Journal Presents David M. O’Malley, Chief Operating Officer of Penn Mutual Life Insurance, with 40 Under 40 Award

The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, a more than 166-year-old company, is pleased to announce David M. O’Malley, Chief Operating Officer of Penn Mutual, has been awarded one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2013 40 Under 40 Awards.

The 40 Under 40 Awards program recognizes 40 individuals under the age of 40 who are accomplished in their respective industries and are community leaders in the greater Philadelphia area. O’Malley will be profiled in a special section of the May 3 print issue of the Philadelphia Business Journal and will be honored at an awards banquet on May 22 in Philadelphia.

As Chief Operating Officer, O'Malley, 38, is responsible for leading Penn Mutual’s day-to-day operations, including financial management, information management and technology, new business and underwriting, producer and client services, product management, the product management office, and Hornor, Townsend & Kent, Inc. (Penn Mutual’s broker-dealer subsidiary).

Along with his responsibilities at Penn Mutual, he also serves on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance (ARMI) at St. Joseph's University's Ervin K. Haub School of Business in Philadelphia.

A lifelong resident of the area, O'Malley graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in finance and economics.

He and his family live in Ambler, Pa.
