People: Pride South Florida elects officers

Sept. 16--Medical, health

Aaron See has joined ABB Optical Group as vice president of marketing in Coral Springs. Previously, See was vice president of marketing at Johnson & Johnson's Vision Care division in Japan.

Israel de la Piedra has joined Miami Jewish Health Systems as on-site rabbi and director of spiritual care for the more than 500 residents, patients, families and friends. Before becoming a rabbi, Israel was an economist with the International Monetary Fund.

Monica Navarro has joined Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Centene Corp., as director of finance. Previously, she was chief operataing officer at Kids in Distress and was chief financial officer at the Urban League of Broward County.

Vanessa Reynolds, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Broad and Cassel, has been elected to the board of directors for the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety.

Mary Jane Damavandi was appointed as Miami Jewish Health Systems' director of nursing. In the past, Damavandi was chief nursing officer at Florida Medical Center. Teresa Valdes-Fauli Weintraub was appointed to Miami Jewish Health Systems' board of directors. Since 1998, Weintraub has been president, CEO and member of the board of Fiduciary Trust International of the South.

Joseph Nader has been appointed to the board of directors of Miami Children's Hospital. The 19-member panel provides oversight to the 289-bed private nonprofit pediatric subspecialty hospital. Nader is the managing director for Wescott Financial Advisory Group in Coral Gables.

Andrea Darlow has been named the Israel Cancer Research Fund's first Florida chapter director. Previously, Darlow was executive director of the National Council of Jewish Women (Greater Miami Section) for two years. She also worked for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation for four years.

Finance

Daniel R. Amodeo has been named agency manager at Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. (Western & Southern Life) to lead business development and operations for the company's Fort Lauderdale agency.

John M. Campanola has been named Agent of the Month, for the second time this year, in the South Florida general office of New York Life.

John Majer has been named the South Florida chapter president of the Association for Corporate Growth, a global organization focused on driving middle market growth. Majer is a tax partner in the West Palm Beach office of McGladrey LLP.

David P. Rosenbaum has joined Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra LLC as a principal in the tax and accounting department in Miami.

LGBT

Bonnie Majcher has been elected co-chair and president of Pride South Florida, in Fort Lauderdale. The organization, currently planning for the 2015 Pride Festival scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1, also added SFGN Publisher Norm Kent as counsel and vice president. Elected to a full term as secretary was Barrie Wood. Former Chair Rocco Bowell is treasurer. Luciano Retondaro and Richard Thurston were added as new board members. Three board positions remain open, and volunteers from the community are being recruited.

Real estate

Frank Vigliotti and his real estate team, the Henri Frank Group, have joined the Fort Lauderdale office of ONE Sotheby's International Realty

Joan Tersigni has been elected to the South Broward Board of Realtors by its members for the 2014-2015 year. In the past Tersigni has served the organization as president twice and most recently as vice president. In addition to Tersigni, the 2015 board includes David Rose, president; Debora Gibbs, vice president; and Jamie Flasterstein, secretary, along with six directors and two Realtor Associate directors.Tersigni is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker with offices in Weston, Plantation, Fort Lauderdale and Miramar.

Law

David M. Sawyer has joined the Miami office of FordHarrison LLP as partner, from the Pittsburg office of Littler Mendelson P.C., where he specialized in employee benefits.

Kim Rae Greenberg has joined Chapin, Ballerano & Cheslack with offices in Delray Beach and Boca Raton as an associate attorney. Most recently Greenberg had her own firm and title agency, Kim R. Greenberg P.A. in Coral Gables.

Engineering, design

William Ciudad-Real has joined HNTB Corp.as South Florida office leader and vice president, in Miami.

Automotive

Brent Burns has been promoted to chief operating officer at JM Family Enterprises Inc. in Deerfield Beach. Jorge Gonzalez is chief financial officer, and Kim Magner has been named vice president of corporate taxes.

Literacy, publishing

Dwayne Randolph, co-owner of Randolph & Dewdney Construction Inc. in Delray Beach, has joined the the Delray Beach Public Library board of directors.

Judy Borich, publisher and owner of Middle River Press in Oakland Park, was honored at the annual Florida Authors and Publishers Awards event, which recognized outstanding books by awarding gold and silver medals in categories ranging from children's books to adult fiction, from memoirs to selfhelp, business books and e-books. Borich received three silver awards in the categories of poetry, autobiography/memoir and coffee table for publishing: Songs from Solitude: Poetry from a Southwestern Florida Hammock, by Robert H. Laura Burns has been promoted to account director at BoardroomPR in Fort Lauderdale. Burns joined the firm in 2012 as an account executive. Before joining Boardroom, Burns began her career as a journalist at WPLG Channel 10 News in Miami, where she was an executive producer
