Over 30 indictments returned in Perry County

April 25--HAZARD -- Over 30 indictments were returned from the Perry County grand jury this month, including several cases related to the theft of gas pipes in the county.

Michael Smith, 52, of Fisty, and Jackie Patrick, 44, of Carrie, Ky., were indicted on one count each of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and one count each first-degree criminal mischief. Allegedly, in February of this year, Smith and Patrick damaged EQT gas pipes by using torches to cut and remove them in order to sell them. A cash bond of $25,000 was set for each of the men.

In two related cases, Pamela A. Hale, 100, of Fisty, and Michael Prater, 20, of Emmalena, were indicted on one count each of facilitation to theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and one count each of facilitation to first-degree criminal mischief when she acted with knowledge that Smith and Patrick were committing crimes by cutting a gas pipe. A $25,000 cash bond was also set in each case.

Gilbert White, 31, of Yerkes, was indicted on one count second-degree robbery and one count theft by unlawful taking over $500, both felony charges. According to the indictment, White allegedly stole a purse, the contents of which were valued at over $500, in November 2013. A $50,000 cash bond was set in the case.

April Hall, 42, was indicted on one count second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count theft by deception under $500. Bail was set at $20,000 cash in this case.

Also indicted this month was 39-year-old James R. Gross, of Hazard, on one count receiving stolen property under $10,000. According to the indictment, in March, Gross received an iPhone knowing it to have been stolen. A $20,000 cash bond was set in the case.

Austyn Caudill, 22, of Hazard, was indicted on one count first-degree terroristic threatening, after allegedly calling in a bomb threat to the Hazard Burger King on January 22 of this year. Bail was set at $30,000 cash in this case.

Krystal M. Jones, 30, of Chavies, was indicted on one count theft by unlawful taking under $500 and one count of first-degree promoting contraband. On or about Jan. 7, Jones allegedly stole items from the Dollar Store worth under $500, and later introduced buprenorphine to the Kentucky River Regional Jail while being lodged there. Bail was set at $20,000 cash in her case.

Daniel Sallie, 30, of Hazard, was indicted this month on one count public intoxication, one count of first-degree promoting contraband, and one count of second-degree possession of a controlled substance. A $20,000 cash bond was set in the case.

James K. Miller, 20, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of first-degree unlawful access to a computer and one count theft by unlawful taking over $500 after allegedly taking scratch-off tickets and paying out cash that belonged to the Hazard Apple Market worth over $500 in February of this year. Bail was set at $25,000 cash.

Anna K. Caudill, 22, of Campton, was indicted this month on one count theft by unlawful taking over $500 and one count theft by receipt of a stolen credit or debit card. Bail was set at $20,000 cash in this case.

Peggy Stewart, 46, of Manchester, was indicted this month on one count of first-degree promoting contraband, one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, one count of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, one count illegal possession of a legend drug, and one count buying or possessing drug paraphernalia. A $20,000 cash bond was set in the case.

Robert Greeley, 41, of Hazard, was indicted on one count theft by unlawful taking or disposition from a building. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Lawrence Miller, 42, of Nicholasville, was indicted this month on one count public intoxication, one count of first-degree promoting contraband, one count each of first-, second-, and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and one count of buying or possessing drug paraphernalia. A $25,000 cash bond was set in the case.

Joshua Johnson, 33, of Hazard, was indicted on one count operating a motor vehicle under the influence, third offense; one count driving on a DUI suspended license, second offense; one count of third-degree terroristic threatening; and one count of second-degree criminal mischief. Bail was set at $25,000 cash.

Chris Ritchie, 50, of Bonnyman, was indicted this month on one count driving on a DUI suspended license, third offense, a felony offense; one count of not possessing an operator's license; one count failure to wear seat belts; and one count persistent felony offender, first-offense. Bail was set at $30,000 cash.

Christopher H. Fields, 47, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and one count buying or possessing drug paraphernalia. A $20,000 cash bond was set in the case.

Maudie M. Smith, 34, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and one count buying or possessing drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Cody Gibson, 21, of Leburn, Ky., was indicted on one count of third-degree burglary and one count theft by unlawful taking over $500. Allegedly, in August 2011, Gibson stole $2,500 from a safe that belonged to Lee's Famous Recipe in Hazard. Bail was set at $30,000 cash.

Bill D. Combs, 30, of Bulan, was indicted this month on one count possessing a prescription drug not in the original container and one count of public intoxication. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Bradford Baker, 29, of Busy, was indicted on one count of third-degree burglary and one count possession of burglary tools. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

William G. Smith, 26, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of first-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, one count driving under the influence, one count reckless driving, one count of first-degree criminal mischief, one count no/expired registration plates, one count no/expired registration receipt, one count failure to produce insurance card, and one count failure to maintain required insurance. A $25,000 bond was set in the case.

Joshua S. Grigsby, 33, of Hazard, was indicted this month on one count of third-degree burglary after allegedly burglarizing the Hazard ARH in November 2013. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Tonya G. Combs, 35, of Avawam, was indicted on one count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fourth offense; one count driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense; and one count possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

James L. Lindon, 42, of Thousandsticks, was indicted on one count of obstructed vision and or windshield violation, one count operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator's license, one count resisting arrest, one count menacing, one count tampering with physical evidence, one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, one count of second-degree possession of a controlled substance, one count possessing proscription drugs not in the proper container, and one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). A $30,000 cash bond was set in the case.

Della Hurt, 22, of Lost Creek, and 53-year-old Timothy Bruce Hurt, of Bonnyman, were indicted this month on one count each of third-degree burglary after allegedly burglarizing the Subway restaurant in October 2013. Bail was set at $20,000 cash in each case.

In an unrelated case, Michael Olinger, 41, of Hazard, was indicted on one count tampering with physical evidence and one count of second-degree possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.

Larry Creech, 52, of Hazard, was indicted this month on one count of third-degree burglary, one count of first-degree fleeing for evading police, one count possession of burglary tools, and one count resisting arrest. Allegedly, on or about January 16, Creech burglarized the old Perry County Central Football House at Dennis Wooton Elementary. Bail was set at $30,000 in this case.

Yeart Pratt, Jr.,46, of Garner, Ky., was indicted on one count manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; one count unlawful possession of a meth precursor, first offense; one count failure to wear seat belts; one count driving under the influence, first offense; one count possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment. Bail in the case was set at $75,000 cash.

Brian Fugate, 28, of Bulan, was indicted on one count manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; one count unlawful possession of a meth precursor, first offense; one count possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment. Bail in the case was set at $75,000 cash.
