Obsidian’s Synchronous DR Solution will be Featured at IBM’s Information on Demand 2011 Conference

Longbows Certified for DB2 pureScale Stretch Clusters

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Obsidian will conduct a live demonstration of its patented Longbow technology at this year’s IOD conference to be held Oct 23-27 in Las Vegas Nevada. Longbow's low-latency encrypted cluster stretching capabilities allow high-performance scale-out architectures – such as IBM's DB2 pureScale – to mirror synchronously over metro distances with minimal security or performance impact.

IOD is an IT solutions conference fielded by IBM and its technology partners, showcasing new solutions for enterprise. On Tuesday at 6pm, Dr. Southwell will take center stage at the Business Partner Theater to educate attendees on the many applications of this new technology which has recently become officially supported in high-availability DB2 pureScale configurations as GDPC (Geographically-Dispersed PureScale Cluster).

Customer-driven case studies form an important element of the IOD conference format. This year’s event will include a presentation in South Pacific C on Wednesday at 2pm co-hosted by the DB2 pureScale technical team and JN Data. In 2010 JN Data acquired BankData, an organization founded in 1966 by a consortium now comprising some 15 major financial institutions in Denmark for the efficient delivery of IT services to all members. JN Data combined DB2 pureScale with Obsidian's Longbow devices to deliver high performance, high availability and data assurance via metro area synchronous mirroring.

Enterprise-class clients experimenting with the DB2 pureScale stretched cluster include an upscale US-based department store, major insurance firms, and others.
