OSHAcampus Launches Brand New HAZWOPER Training Series that includes the 40 and 24 hr initial and the 8 hr refresher.

AUSTIN, TX (PRWEB) May 06, 2011

OSHAcampus is proud to introduce the brand new HAZWOPER Training Series which includes new 40 & 20 hour initial courses and the 8 hr annual Refresher, which were developed to meet the requirements in 29 CFR 1910.120, OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response Training Standard.

This HAZWOPER Training Series covers topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and contains interactive flash animations and activities including video scenarios. This allows the student a higher level of learning and real scenario interpretation. After successful completion a certificate is issued which is accepted by OSHA as a documentation of training.

The 2011 HAZWOPER training series was developed by industry expert, Albert V. Condello III, Professor of Safety Management and Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Houston. The courses are specifically designed for employees who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. All of the courses in the HAZWOPER training series meet the training requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.120.

“We are very excited about the new courses. The quality of training that is now available to our students and customers is more advanced than ever. Having Al Condello work on this project allowed us the ability to bring a true ‘hands on’ approach to the training and create real world scenarios to make our students understand the importance of 1910.120 and be safer and more qualified while on the job.’ said Mike Millsap, Lead Trainer at 360training.com.

Workers must have initial 40 hour HAZWOPER training before they may enter the site and at least three days of actual field experience under a trained, seasoned supervisor. Our online course meets the standard requirement of 40 hrs of initial training. However, the three days field experience requirement should be met by the student/employer or potential employer.

Meanwhile, the 24 hour HAZWOPER course is designed for workers on site only occasionally for a specific limited task and who are unlikely to be exposed over permissible exposure limits and published limits. It is also for workers regularly on site who work in areas which have been monitored and fully characterized indicating that exposures are under permissible exposure limits and published exposure limits, where respirators are not necessary, there are no health hazards or the possibility of an emergency developing.

The annual 8 hour HAZWOPER refresher course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards. The refresher course must be completed annually within 12 months of completing a 24 hr or 40 hr HAZWOPER course.

HAZWOPER training is just one of the many courses that OSHAcampus.com offers workers to gain a better understanding of how to protect themselves from the hazards found on the job.
