Nightscape Capital Implements Hosted Version of SunGard’s Front Arena for Portfolio and Risk Management of New Hedge Fund

London (Vocus/PRWEB) January 11, 2011

Nightscape Capital LLP, a London-based capital structure arbitrage fund, has implemented the hosted version of SunGard’s Front Arena for portfolio and risk management of all assets in its new hedge fund. The hosted version of Front Arena is a cross-asset solution that provides trade capture, real-time profit & loss, position control and risk management capabilities for hedge funds and other alternative investment managers.

Nightscape selected Front Arena for its user-friendly trader interface, which provides a single solution for trade capture, position management and risk management. The fund was also impressed with the hosted solution's ability to help lower IT infrastructure costs, overhead costs and implementation time. Nightscape will use Front Arena’s capabilities for managing, measuring and monitoring risk to help it demonstrate a robust risk and control architecture to institutional investors.

Portfolio managers, risk and operations staff at Nightscape will also use Front Arena’s cross-asset coverage and real-time P&L capabilities to manage pricing, exposure and positions in real-time across its broad base of investments, including bonds, credit default swaps, floating-rate notes (FRN), equities and foreign exchange. Front Arena is integrated with the systems used by Nightscape's fund administrators, helping it to provide a full front-to-back solution to manage its fund operations.

Nick Stukas, partner at Nightscape, said, “We chose Front Arena for the comprehensive range of instruments it supports. Combined with its sophisticated valuation methodology, this provides us with a powerful solution that will help us meet the demands of our investors regarding risk and control. The flexibility of the solution will also help us continue to evolve with our business needs.”

Tim Green, chief operating officer of SunGard’s alternative investments business, said, “Nightscape joins the growing number of funds which have selected SunGard's Front Arena. The hosted version of Front Arena makes its capabilities for trading and risk management available to hedge funds, helping them to lower costs, minimize IT overhead and rapidly implement the solution.”

Nightscape also uses SunGard’s Monis, a leading pricing, analytics and hedging solution for convertible bonds and other equity-linked securities. Monis data is fully integrated into Front Arena, helping Nightscape price and analyze its convertible bond positions in real-time.

About Nightscape Capital LLP
Nightscape was set up by the senior London-based team at multi-strategy hedge fund firm Sandelman Partners, who left at the end of 2009. It is led by managing partner Nick Stukas, who was a portfolio manager at Citadel, before joining Sandelman in 2005 and going on to found its London office in early 2007.

At Sandelman, which managed $4bn at its peak, the team was responsible for all the firm’s investments outside North America.

The Nightscape Global Value Fund is a value-focused credit strategy that invests in liquid positions across the whole capital structure. The strategy, which launched on September 1, 2010 is designed to exploit the inefficiencies resulting from continued volatility in the European credit markets. It attempts to be uncorrelated to the markets and uses single-name alpha shorts.

The four partners on the investment side are Sandelman London alumni Stukas, Kurt Knuppel, Benjamin Devaux and Elio Lombardi. Chief operating officer Stephen Wilson, who has joined from Cannizaro Capital Partners, is also a partner.
