New York Life Insurance Taiwan Adopts Attunity’s Real-time Operational Data Replication (ODR) Solution
Customer Testimonial: Attunity's ODR Software & Change Data Capture (CDC) technology enabled improvements in customer service and a 30% cost savings in IT operations
Burlington, MA (Vocus) March 16, 2010 -- Attunity Ltd. (OTC BB: ATTUF.OB), a leading provider of real-time data integration and event capture software, announced today that its real-time operational data replication (ODR) software and low-impact CDC technology has been adopted by New York Life Insurance Taiwan Corporation (NYLITC) in order to enable best-in-class customer service and reduce IT costs required to deliver information to its 1,500 agents and staff.
“Using real-time information gives us an edge over our competition, allowing our front-line agents to access and manage customer profiles in a more timely and thorough manner. This enables our agents to be the kind of go-to resources that customers depend on and feel comfortable referring their friends and family to,” explained Sebastian Ma, Project Manager at New York Life Insurance Taiwan Corp, a life insurance company servicing more than 300,000 policyholders and with total assets exceeding NT$ 60 billion (US $1.88 billion). “It’s hard to put a price tag on the value of the countless hours of effort we’ve been able to save on custom programming by using Attunity’s ODR Solution, but it’s estimated that we’ve been able to cut as much as 70% from the end-to-end process time, with a 30% overall cost-savings on the related labor and overhead.”
What made it challenging and costly to deliver real-time information at NYLITC was their heterogeneous environment consisting of disparate data sources and complex data formats in multiple Asian languages. In this environment, making information available to agents required manual programming of data conversions by a team of IT professionals. Beyond the cost involved in this manual and labor-intensive process, it was also slow, causing delays of up to two days in data latency and making it impossible to respond quickly to short notice requests, forcing agents to rely on information that was not always as current as was needed.
Looking at several alternatives, NYLITC selected and implemented Attunity StreamFlow, an end-to-end ODR software solution that could be quickly configured and customized to address their complex and unique requirements. Supporting heterogeneous data sources, the Attunity solution leverages log-based CDC technology to capture data changes from an IBM® iSeries® platform and then replicates the data to a SQL Server platform where the data is made available for the agents. By providing robust and configurable conversions, the software eliminates the need for manual programming, and has the unique ability to address user-defined double byte character sets that are unsupported by many other data integration tools. With the Attunity solution in place, NYLITC can now easily manage, maintain and extend their use of information—making it accessible to agents through Web applications and reports in near real-time.
“We are pleased that our software enabled New York Life Insurance Taiwan Corporation to meet both its objectives of delivering real-time information and reducing costs,” stated Byron Yeung, Managing Director of Attunity’s Asia Pacific operations. “We are especially proud and encouraged by the quick return on investment they are seeing. These results support our mission to continue focusing on solutions that enable such efficiencies.”
