New 30-Second Spot Highlights Contrast Between Sean Eldridge and Chris Gibson on Women’s Health

KINGSTON, N.Y., Sept. 15 -- The campaign of Sean Eldridge, a Democrat running for election in New York's19th Congressional District, issued the following campaign news:

Sean Eldridge for Congress has released a new 30-second spot titled "Choice," following "Hear It From Me" and "Independent Advocate," to highlight the contrast between Sean Eldridge and Congressman Chris Gibson on women's health care.

"While Congressman Gibson claims to be pro-choice, he has voted consistently against a woman's right to choose and to defund Planned Parenthood," said Sean Eldridge. "I was proud to serve on the board of Planned Parenthood in the Hudson Valley, and in Congress, I'll continue to fight for a woman's right to choose and for equal pay for equal work."

Congressman Chris Gibson voted to defund Planned Parenthood in April of 2011 [H. Con. Res. 36, Vote #271], block consideration of the Paycheck Fairness Act in April of 2013 [H Res 146, Vote #97], support a nationwide abortion ban after 20 weeks that would require rape and incest survivors to report a crime to authorities if they wanted an exception in June of 2013 [HR 1797, Vote #251], and eliminate insurance coverage for abortions services for millions of American women in January of this year [HR 7, Vote #30].

I respect Chris Gibson, so I was surprised to learn that even though he says he's pro-choice, he's consistently voted against a woman's right to choose. He even voted to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood.

I won't play politics with women's health, and you'll always know where I stand.

I served on the board Hudson Valley Planned Parenthood and fought to protect a woman's right to choose and access to birth control.

In Congress, I'll continue to fight for women, including equal pay for equal work.
