NaviSys Enterprise Platform Enables SOA Strategies at Life Insurers
EDISON, NJ - July 11, 2006
New Release Also Features New User Interface, Complete Internationalization, 1,000 APIs Published as Web Services and Expanded Support for ACORD Standards
NaviSys, Inc. today announced a new version of NaviSys Enterprise Platform(R), the market-leading next-generation solution that supports the entire policy life cycle and enables business and IT transformation. In this new release, NaviSys brings its long-standing support of the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach to a more advanced and formalized level.
Built to J2EE standards for openness and interoperability, NaviSys Enterprise Platform is composed of independent, reusable Java components. In this latest release, NaviSys has physically divided these components into 30 stand-alone components. In addition, NaviSys Enterprise Platform 2006 release 3 will publish 1,000 APIs as standardized Web Services and support three new ACORD standards, including new business submission. The September release will also introduce an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) for standardized communication.
Tom Famularo, senior vice president of Technology and Development at NaviSys, said: "With our component architecture, NaviSys has supported the philosophy behind SOA for years. But by now strictly adhering to the standard, NaviSys can help leading life insurance companies implement their SOA strategies. Our approach is to partner with our customers, offering them clear choices to achieving their strategic vision. Life insurers can adopt straight-through processing using NaviSys' comprehensive next-generation platform or work towards the ideal future state using NaviSys' best-of-breed components."
Matthew Josefowicz, manager of the global insurance group at industry advisory firm Celent, LLC said: "Insurers are embracing SOA to improve the flexibility of the IT environment and enable them to respond more quickly to changing business needs. SOA support and highly componentized offerings are necessities in today's competitive insurance software environment."

Additional Features of NaviSys Enterprise Platform 2006
NaviSys Enterprise Platform 2006 enhances insurer and producer efficiency from product launch and point of sale through ongoing administration.
Even Faster Product Launches
Built to provide insurers with the ideal balance of flexibility, manageability and performance, this release features expanded use of NaviSys' embedded rules engine and management tools for product definition and launch. Product designers can create a brand-new product or category from scratch using rules or work from an existing library of reusable product objects.
Fewer Clicks: Improved Manageability, Productivity and Usability
In this release, NaviSys introduces a brand-new user interface redesigned for simplicity and ease of use. There are fewer tabs, more consolidated views and streamlined workflow and application processes.
Mr. Famularo said: "NaviSys Enterprise Platform is in production in high-volume, complex distribution and product environments supporting millions of contracts. These implementations require several variations and generations of product families and a large volume of business rules. To meet the needs of these customers, NaviSys has invested in further refinements of its industry-leading version control, rules promotion, cross-reference reports and tracking functions. Without controls like these, it can be harder to manage rules than code."
Expanded International Functionality
NaviSys has completed internationalization of the solution, including time zone support, handling multiple currencies, address control and the ability to switch between languages and currencies on the fly. The solution was double-byte character enabled in 2004.
