“Ram” Selvaraju, With Over 10 Years Practical and Wall Street Biotech and Pharmaceutical Experience, Named a Senior VP; Yi Chen Also Joins Team

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Morgan Joseph TriArtisan LLC (“MJTA”), a merchant bank engaged in providing financial advice, capital raising and private equity investing, has expanded its equity research coverage of the biotechnology and special pharmaceutical centers with the addition to its staff of Raghuram “Ram” Selvaraju, Ph.D., as a Senior Vice President. Yi Chen, Ph.D., also joined MJTA’s equity research group as an Associate Biotechnology Analyst.

Dr. Selvaraju has over a decade of practical and investment research experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He started his career at the Serono Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Geneva, Switzerland, the applied research arm of Serono, at the time Europe’s largest biopharmaceutical firm. Five years later he joined Rodman & Renshaw as a research analyst, before moving to Hapoalim Securities, the New York broker/dealer subsidiary of Israel’s large financial service group, Bank Hapoalim B.M. At Hapoalim he covered biotechnology, specialty pharmaceuticals, molecular analytics and diagnostics as the firm’s head of healthcare equity research. Most recently, Dr. Selvaraju was a senior biotechnology analyst at Noble Financial Capital Markets. He has been quoted in leading industry and mass media publications, including The Wall Street Journal, BioWorld Today and PharmaVoice. In addition, Dr. Selvaraju has made multiple appearances on Bloomberg TV discussing healthcare stocks and the outlook for the pharmaceutical industry in the wake of healthcare reform in the U.S. He holds a B.S. in biological sciences and technical writing from Carnegie-Mellon University, a Doctorate in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from the University of Geneva in Switzerland and an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Dr. Chen has been associated with Zhang Capital Management as an associate for trading support and with the Research Foundation of the City University of New York as a postdoctoral researcher in molecular and cell biology, studying protein signaling mechanisms with relevance to cancer biology and regenerative medicine. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the City University of NY Graduate Center and a B.S. in Biophysics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
