Merkle Hires Carlton Doty as Vice President for Insurance Marketing Practice
COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), the nation’s largest and fastest growing independent customer relationship marketing agency, announced the hiring of Carlton (Carl) Doty as a vice president, enterprise strategy. In this newly created position, Doty will focus on developing and deploying strategic marketing programs for Merkle’s health insurance clients and further establishing the company’s presence and reputation as a thought leader in the sector.
Doty is a nationally recognized expert who brings nearly 15 years of experience in health insurance and marketing to Merkle. With a specialty in customer relationship management, emerging markets and digital channels in the health industry, Doty has been widely quoted in business and industry media and publications, including MarketWatch, Managed Care Magazine, Healthcare Finance News and NPR. He has also presented at industry events such as America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Institute and the World Health Care Congress.
Prior to Merkle, Doty was vice president and research director for Forrester Research’s Customer Intelligence practice, which he helped launch in 2009. During his tenure with Forrester, he authored numerous research papers on health insurance marketing strategy, eBusiness best practices, customer intelligence and marketing accountability. Prior to his four years at Forrester, Doty spent nearly a decade as an IT and eBusiness practitioner with Tufts Health Plan. During that time, he also served as the chair of the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium's Internet Professionals Forum and was a member of the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX).
