Maternity Benefits Now Available to HealthAmericaOne Members

Harrisburg and Pittsburgh Pa. - June 25, 2012 - Individuals and families in Pennsylvania can now count on HealthAmericaOne insurance coverage for each of life’s stages, including the birth of a baby.
Studies indicate the average birth can cost anywhere from $7,000 to $17,000, assuming no complications; however, most standard benefits packages for women today lack maternity care to cover these costs. Only 13 percent of individual health plans available to a 30-year-old woman across the country provided maternity coverage in 2009, according to figures from the National Women's Law Center.
“Finding maternity coverage in the individual health insurance market is a challenge,” said Don Mazza, director, HealthAmericaOne. “At HealthAmericaOne we are proud to be one of the few insurance providers to offer these benefits to women at such an important stage in life.”
Starting with policy dates of June 1, 2012, maternity benefits will be included with all new Choice 1 and Copay series plans. Benefits include:
• $2,500 inpatient copay for hospital services. The deductible and coinsurance do not apply.
• Specialist OV copay for first prenatal visit only.
• $20 copay for Choice1 series plans
• $40/$50 copay for Copay series plans
• Deductible and coinsurance apply to any other maternity service. For example physician charges for delivery and diagnostic tests.
• All maternity services are subject to a nine-month waiting period.
Among the top health plans in the nation, HealthAmericaOne, a member of the CoventryOne family of brands, is focused on delivering health insurance solutions. Now with the welcomed addition of maternity benefits, HealthAmericaOne can better meet the needs of individuals and families throughout Pennsylvania.
