Marsh & McLennan Companies Awarded LEED Gold Certification for New York Offices of Guy Carpenter

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MMC) announced today that LEED Gold Certification has been awarded to Guy Carpenter for its headquarters at 1166 Avenue of the Americas in New York. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification system for the design, construction and operation of green buildings.

Guy Carpenter relocated to 1166 Avenue of the Americas, the global headquarters of Marsh & McLennan Companies, in March 2010 and occupies two floors in the 44-story building. Guy Carpenter’s new headquarters, home to 250 of its employees, is the first LEED certified space in the building. Marsh & McLennan Companies achieved LEED certification after the rigorous examination of its energy, lighting, water and material use. Beyond the LEED requirements, Guy Carpenter also instituted other energy efficient business process changes, including an initiative to significantly decrease paper waste, and added recycling stations throughout the building to further green its office.
