Feb 26, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Manulife Asset Management Malaysia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife Holdings Berhad, has appointed Jason Chong as its new chief investment officer.
Mr Chong joins Manulife from UOB-OSK Asset Management where he has been chief investment officer (CIO) since 2005. Prior to joining UOB, he spent nine years at Merrill Lynch in Malaysia in various roles including latterly as the head of Malaysia research.
In the newly created CIO role at Manulife Asset Management Malaysia, Mr Jason will provide investment management oversight across the company's fixed income and equity portfolios. Reporting directly into the board of Manulife Asset Management Malaysia, he will head up a team of 12.
Jill Smith, vice president of ASEAN investments at MFC Global Investment Management, the asset management division of Manulife Financial, said: "Jason brings with him an outstanding track record, having previously been responsible for the management of a range of Malaysian and regional equity funds which consistently outperformed their benchmarks. His performance has also been recognized with high profile awards from Lipper and Morningstar. We are delighted to welcome him to the team."
