Dec. 31--ORANGE -- One Orange man appartently was at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong belongings.

Officer J.D. Dempsey of the Orange Police Department was patrollingThursday night to the Kwick Stop in the 1550 block of 16th Street when he saw a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu park in the handicap parking space, according to his report. All four occupants were asked to exit the car.

Dispatch checked for outstanding warrants.David Armstrong was wanted out of the Orange Municipal Court for no driver's license, bond $500, fine $271. He was also wanted out of Justice of the Peace 1 for no driver's license, no bond, fine $356.20 and for a Capias Pro Fine, no insurance, no bond, fine $546.

Another passenger, Ellis Deon grabbed a white plastic bag from the vehicle. He then turned his back to officers and was digging through the bag, the report read. The officers told him to turn around so they could check the contents. The officers then grabbed Deon's arm and turned him around.

The report stated a black Kel-Tex PF-9 9mm Luger was inside the bag. Deon was restrained.

He said the weapon wasn't his and he found it in a ditch. The officer wrote the serial number was removed or obliterated from the firearm.

Armstrong and Deon were transported to the Orange County Jail. Deon is charged with possession of a weapon, felony 3 and with tampering with identification numbers.
