MIB Elects a New Chairman, Vice Chairman and One New Director to its Board

BRAINTREE, Mass., May 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MIB Group, Inc., the life and health insurance industry's most trusted resource for underwriting information, risk assessment and analytical services, is pleased to announce the election of its Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2014-15, and the election of one new director, all of whom are highly-experienced insurance industry veterans serving as senior officers of MIB member companies. As a membership corporation, MIB's Board is composed of 12 volunteer directors, each of whom represents one member from among MIB's 430 North American member insurance companies, and one internal director, MIB's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Effective May 16^th, Thomas F. English, Esq., Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Insurance Counsel for the New York Life Insurance Company will succeed Elizabeth H. MacGowan, FSA, MAAA, Vice President and Chief Life Product Officer for the National Life Group as Chairman of the Board. Joseph L. Pray, CLU, ChFC, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Trustmark Companies will serve as the Board's new Vice Chairman. Ms. MacGowan will remain on the MIB Board of Directors as Immediate Past Chair.

Newly elected to a three-year term on the MIB Board of Directors, Dr. Jacki Goldstein, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Life and Disability New Business and Medical Resources for MetLife, begins her term at the same time.

Mr. English joined the MIB Board in 2011 and will serve as its new Chairman, 2014-2015. As Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Insurance Counsel for the New York Life Insurance Company, he is responsible for units that provide legal advice to the company's Insurance and Agency Group.  He has 30+ years' experience in the insurance industry.  Mr. English is the immediate past President of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel (ALIC) and has previously held positions in ALIC as an officer, a member of the Board of Governors, and Chair of the Insurance Section. He has also served on the Industry Advisory Committee of the Interstate Product Regulation Commission (Interstate Compact).

Mr. Pray joined the MIB Board in 2011 and will serve as its new Vice-Chairman, 2014-2015. As President and Chief Executive Officer for the Trustmark Companies, he is responsible for all aspects of the company's business including primary operating divisions: CoreSource, Starmark, Voluntary Benefit Solutions and HealthFitness Corp. He first joined Trustmark in 2002 as Vice President of Sales, Voluntary Benefit Solutions, and was later promoted to Senior Vice President in 2007. He has 30+ years' experience in the insurance industry. In addition to serving on the Trustmark Board, Mr. Pray currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Lake County, ILand America's Health Insurance Plans.

Dr. Jacki Goldstein begins her first term on the MIB Board in May 2014.  She is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Life and Disability New Business and Medical Resources for MetLife. In addition to her role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Goldstein has leadership responsibilities for MetLife's Underwriting Strategies and the Individual Disability Income New Business and Underwriting teams. Prior to joining MetLife, she was Vice President and Chief Medical Director at Travelers Life & Annuity and at Connecticut Mutual. Dr. Goldstein has served as past President of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (2006-2007), and has long served on their Executive Committee. She is also active in the American Council of Life Insurance (ACLI) Medical Section as a member of the ACLI Medical & Risk Classification Issue Committee and Medical Issues Committee, and is a former President of the ACLI Medical Section's Board of Managers.
