Leadership, Integrity and Vision

The compelling tale of a terrorist attack will be the back-drop for the opening general session at CUES' Directors Conference, Dec. 8-11 in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Kirk Lippold, USN (Ret.), commander of the USS Cole and author of Front Burner, will convey how the principle of integrity created an environment for leadership in which his crew felt imbued with a sense of ownership, seizing the opportunity to be responsible for their ship and not just their jobs.

In his session, "Leadership and Accountability When it Matters," Commander Lippold will share why his "Five Pillars of Leadership" are must-have business tenets for any team.

Dewitt Jones, world-class National Geographic photojournalist, will lead another general session on "Extraordinary Visions." Jones asks, "Where do we find the vision to take our lives to the next level? How do we summon the passion to keep 'raising the bar?' How can we make our life less of a struggle and more of a joy?" For Jones, the answers to these questions lie in the images we hold about ourselves, our future, and the way in which we grow.

Additional general session speakers will include Tim Segerson, deputy director/Office of Examination and Insurance with the National Credit Union Administration; Michael Daigneault, principal/founder of Quantum Governance, L3C; and Meagan Johnson, partner in Johnson Training Group.

Breakout sessions will cover varied topics-from the board's role in delivery plan strategy to top emerging risks for credit unions.
