Law firms merge to create Kuhn Rogers PLC

Sept. 04--TRAVERSE CITY -- Kuhn Rogers PLC law firm started practicing last month after two area firms joined forces.

Kuhn, Darling, Boyd & Quandt PLC and Calcutt, Rogers & Boynton Attorneys & Counselors merged to create the new firm. Attorney Joe Quandt called the agreement a true merger.

"The Calcutt, Rogers & Boynton firm and the Kuhn, Darling, Boyd & Quandt firm legally merged together and the surviving entity is named Kuhn Rogers," Quandt said. "Nobody bought the other, something that's somewhat unique in the legal realm."

The firm's eight partners are Edward Kuhn, Terry Rogers, A. Brooks Darling, Gregory Donahue, Gregory Jenkins, Gina Bozzer, Edgar Roy and Quandt. Associates are Christopher Rogers, Matthew Boyd, Troy Stewart and Marc McKellar II.

Attorneys William Calcutt and Jack Boynton didn't join the new firm.

Quandt said being a large, independent Traverse City law firm helps the attorneys' clients.

"We get to make our own decisions related to the destiny of the work product," Quandt said. "It allows us to solely focus on what's best for the client, rather than being worried about a business imperative."

Quandt said Kuhn Rogers attorneys are experts in estate planning, trust litigation, banking and other areas of law.

Kuhn Rogers' office is at 412 S. Union St. in Traverse City.
