Kurt Seelbach Named CEO of Armed Forces Insurance
Kurt Seelbach, president and chief operating officer of Armed Forces Insurance through June 2010, has assumed the role of chief executive officer (CEO) of the organization.
Leavenworth, KS (Vocus) July 29, 2010 -- Kurt Seelbach, president and chief operating officer of Armed Forces Insurance through June 2010, has assumed the role of chief executive officer (CEO) of the organization.
“Kurt is a talented, experienced and driven insurance executive and has demonstrated exemplary leadership and management skills since joining AFI in June of 2008. He’s committed to the mission, core values and strategic vision of AFI,” said Col. Tom Dials, USA, Ret., AFI’s chairman. “Kurt’s skills and experience are critical as we position AFI for continued profitable growth.”
As CEO, Seelbach is responsible for the operations of Armed Forces Insurance Exchange and its wholly owned subsidiaries Armed Forces Insurance Corporation and Armed Forces Insurance Agency. He also is responsible for assisting the chairman with coordinating the activities and agenda of the board of directors to ensure effective governance and oversight of business operations. His duties include providing guidance to the executive leadership team as well as representing the company to subscribers, employees, external regulatory agencies, rating agencies, trade associations and business partners.
Seelbach joined AFI as senior vice president and chief operating officer in 2008. He was promoted to president and chief operating officer in 2009. From 1998 to 2007, he was executive vice president of sales and marketing at a national property and casualty insurance company serving a broad customer base of businesses in the horticultural industry. Prior to that role, he served as that company’s chief financial officer for 12 years.
Seelbach is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois State University. He completed requirements for the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1992 and is an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), both of which are professional designations awarded by the Insurance Institute of America (IIA).
