Information Security Executive® (ISE®) Central Award Winners Announced

T.E.N.-Tech Exec Networks, Inc. announced finalists and winners last evening for the ISE® Central Awards 2011. Awards for both Executive and Project categories were presented at a dinner gala at the Westin Galleria Hotel, Dallas, Texas. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in risk management, data asset protection, compliance and privacy and network security.

This year’s Executive recipient of the ISE® Award was John South, CISO, Heartland. South was recognized for his numerous contributions to the information security industry as founder and member of many security organizations, as well as for his leadership providing information security for the nation’s fifth largest payment processor. His dedication to the information security profession is evidenced by his continued efforts to not just protect his own company from attacks, but to warn and guard against attacks to competing firms, users and other organizations that comprise the financial services industry.

Finalists for the Executive of the Year category were also recognized during the awards program for their achievements in the industry. They included: John Petrie, VP & CISO, Harland Clarke Holdings Corporation, and Kevin Swailes, Director Global IP Protection, COE (Center of Excellence), GE Energy.

The Information Security Project of the Year Award was awarded to Electronic Arts for “Business Security Operation Center (BSOC).” Accepting on behalf of the project team was Shammyangu Rana, CISSP, CISA, CISM, Director of Security Operations. The BSOC set new industry paradigms by establishing a new generation 24x7 operation providing security and risk management service to the firm’s global offices. It provided a simple, cost-effective solution offering 24x7 monitoring and real time response for all security domains.

Finalists for the Information Security Project of the Year Award included Nationwide, for their “Enabling the Business Through Effective Risk Management” project and GE Energy, for their “DLP for IP Protection” project.

As part of the evening’s recognition, Doug Jacoby, CISO, Baker Hughes, was announced as the ISE® Central People’s Choice Award Winner. The award represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by the registered attendees.
