IOFM Announces Winners of Accounts Payable Manager and Accounts Payable Department of the Year Awards at 12th Annual Accounts Payable Conference & Expo

PR Web

Portland, ME (PRWEB) November 04, 2013

Last week, the Institute of Finance & Management (IOFM) announced the Accounts Payable Manager and Accounts Payable Department of the Year, two awards presented at the 12th Annual Accounts Payable Conference & Expo. Winners were the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and Boston University’s Matt Abrams.

Produced by IOFM, a business unit within Diversified Business Communications, AP Conference & Expo 2013 took place at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, NV. Professional education opportunities abounded, and speakers from well-known companies and institutions lent their expertise to the more than 550 attendees.

"We were very pleased to present these two awards again this year," said RD Whitney, executive director of IOFM. "We received a large number of nominations. The caliber of finalists impressed us, and the decision was a tough one to make. Each winner prevailed against strong competition. We congratulate them and encourage our community to begin thinking about next year’s nominations."

Matt Abrams, winner of AP Manager of the Year said, “I am privileged to have been nominated alongside my distinguished peers and am honored to accept this award not just for myself but the whole Boston University Community.”

“UPMC Accounts Payable is honored to receive such recognition from IOFM. Accounts Payable is a key control point in all organizations and all AP Departments should be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments,” said Kelly Coxon, a member of the winning AP Department of the Year.

For AP Manager of the Year, alongside Matt Abrams were the following finalists:

   •  Dan Anelli of Yaskawa America
   •  Shawn Furiman of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
   •  Samantha Hartman of Federated Mutual Insurance Co.
   •  Judy Lanham of Sea World Parks & Entertainment
   •  Wanda Onafuwa of Metropolitan Washington
   •  Airports Authority
   •  Susan Tyler of Fed-Ex

For AP Department of the Year, UPMC faced competition from several other finalists:

   •  Clalit Healthcare Services
   •  Lake Michigan Credit Union
   •  MarkWest Energy Partners
   •  Memorial Healthcare Systems
   •  Pullman Regional Hospital and Yaskawa America

IOFM thanks the 2013 AP Conference & Expo Title Sponsor, Taulia Inc., and a long list of additional sponsors who participated at the Platinum, Gold and Silver levels. Speakers from Carnegie Mellon, The Home Depot, University of Pennsylvania, MGM Resorts, Ann Taylor Companies, ING, and elsewhere, presented on a wide array of topics pertinent to accounts payable professionals. Additionally, AP Expo 2013 was a destination for professional education opportunities, including the Form 1099 Certification Bootcamp and AP Certification Workshop. Attendees also had access onsite to the related certification exams.

It was announced at the conference that the 2014 Accounts Payable Conference & Expo events will take place April 2-4 in Alexandria, VA and October 26-29 in Las Vegas, NV.
