HomeServe USA Offering Water Service Line Protection Plan to Homeowners Across the Country Just in Time for Summer

PR Web

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) June 07, 2012

With an expected repeat of last summer’s record temperatures and dry conditions, HomeServe USA, a premier provider of emergency repair service plans in the U.S, has introduced its Water Service Line Protection Plan to homeowners in select states across the country this week. As water use increases during the hot summer months, high heat and dry conditions can put added stress on pipes causing unexpected breaks. HomeServe USA is offering its water service line protection plan to residents in Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, and Virginia among others to help protect them from unexpected water service line related home repairs not generally covered by basic homeowners insurance or the local utility service.

The American Society of Civil Engineers has graded the U.S. water infrastructure as a D- and noted that many water mains are beyond their designated life span.1 Older pipes feel the strain from both inside and out: increased water use during the summer builds pressure inside the pipes, while dry soil shrinks away on the outside, leaving a recipe for failure to older corroded pipes.2 A national estimate of the cost of emergency water service line repairs and replacements released by HomeServe USA anticipates one million water service line emergencies are likely to occur in the United States in 2012, at a total cost that could exceed $2,000,000,000 to homeowners nationwide.3

Additionally, according to a 2011 survey by GfK Roper Custom Research, one third of all responding homeowners assume that their local utility is responsible for the cost of a burst water line between their house and the street, which is not usually the case.

HomeServe USA partners with 25 of the nation’s leading water, gas, and electrical utilities to offer customer service plans. However, in select areas, HomeServe offers its affordable Water Service Line Protection Plans directly to homeowners starting at under $5 a month. HomeServe has received an “A” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and earlier this year, HomeServe reached its 1 millionth customer, providing homeowners across the U.S. with coverage from those unexpected repairs not covered by most basic homeowner’s insurance or by the local utility.

"One of the challenges of home ownership is that the potential for expensive repairs is always out there," says Tom Rusin, Chief Executive Officer of HomeServe. "The fact that homeowners don't know about their responsibilities in these situations serves to make unexpected and expensive repairs harder to handle. Emergencies do happen and unfortunately, there’s very little someone can do to prevent them, but homeowners can be prepared with a plan that helps cover the cost of expensive water service line repairs."

<a href="http://www.homeserveusa.com">HomeServe will be offering its Water Service Line Protection Plan to homeowners via a no-obligation direct mail offer. This plan provides consumers thousands of dollars in coverage for a low monthly fee. When enrolled in the program, customers have access to a 24-hour emergency hotline that will dispatch a local, licensed and qualified contractor to make any necessary repairs.

"Our mission is simple," concludes Rusin, "to educate homeowners about their responsibilities and offer a solution that protects them from the hassle and expense of unexpected home repairs."
