Great American Insurance Group Acquires Employers Comp Associates and Freeman Administrative Solutions

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Great American Insurance Group announced today it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Employers Comp Associates, Inc. (“ECA”) and Freeman Administrative Solutions, Inc., (“FAS”) which are both owned by Darlene and Larry Freeman. Upon completion of the transaction, Darlene Freeman will join Great American Insurance Group as Divisional President of ECA and FAS.

Since its founding in 1993, ECA, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, has been a leading provider of employers’ primary indemnity coverage for employers that opt out of the Texas Workers’ Compensation system and occupational accident coverage for independent owner/operator truckers. FAS, established in 2002 and also headquartered in Dallas, is a claims administrator specializing in the handling of employers’ primary indemnity and occupational accident claims.

Mike Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Great American Insurance Group, commented, “We are excited about this new business relationship and look forward to working with the Freemans and the ECA and FAS teams to continue to provide excellent coverage and service to the Texas non-subscription market. This acquisition is an attractive addition to Great American Insurance Group’s portfolio of specialty P&C businesses and supports our strategy of building and acquiring specialty insurance businesses that excel in markets that they know and serve well.”
