Evans police get 6 percent pay raise [The Buffalo News, N.Y.]

The five-year contract for the 22 Evans police officers in the union runs until the end of 2016 and provides no pay increase for this year or next year, union and town officials said.
Instead, the officers will receive a 1 1/2 percent increase in 2014, a 2 percent increase in 2015 and a 2 1/2 percent increase in 2016, officials added.
Union members will pay a higher deductible on their health insurance, which should save the town
"We feel it's fair for both sides," Fioretti said of the new contract. "We want to protect and take care of our members, but we understand the town is in a hole right now and we're trying to do our part."
