Equity Risk Partners Appoints William Monat to Managing Director of Transactional Products
Equity Risk Partners (ERP), the only full-service insurance brokerage and consulting firm focused exclusively on the needs of the private equity industry, has announced the appointment of William Monat as Managing Director - Transactional Products, effective immediately. Mr. Monat will be responsible for establishing the firm's Transactional Products practice group and building ERP's capabilities for developing and marketing products including representations and warranties, tax liability, litigation buyout, and contingent liability insurance.
"We are pleased to welcome Bill to Equity Risk Partners," said Michael Marcon, Founder and CEO. "With his unique and valuable understanding of transactional insurance products, he is a great addition to our team and a valuable resource for our clients. Our continued growth in the transactional products space coincides with increasing demand from our private equity clients for unique solutions to deal-related hurdles, and Bill's expertise will allow ERP to continue to deliver top-notch insurance solutions to our clients."
Mr. Monat brings more than 20 years of expertise in insurance and risk services to his role at ERP, including extensive experience as an attorney concentrating in insurance coverage and litigation. Previously, he served as a Partner at a large national law firm, focused on the representation of specialty lines insurers in professional liability, directors' and officers' liability, and fidelity coverage and defense cases.
In 2006, Mr. Monat co-founded Transaction Risk Solutions, which provides insurance solutions to private equity firms and other parties involved in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other financial transactions, where he served as its Chief Underwriting Officer and President. Prior to this, he spent nine years at Aon as Managing Director of M&A Risk Solutions, where he was responsible for underwriting transactional insurance, and headed claims and legal matters for several Aon underwriting operations.
Mr. Monat earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, and is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. He will be based out of ERP's Chicago office.
