However, many adults should also consider looking into how technology can make them a safer driver. Last year, a survey by a large wireless company revealed that more adults than teens are texting and driving – this information is very disconcerting,” said Acciani.
In 2013, AT&T conducted a commuter survey and found that 49 percent of adult commuters admitted to texting and driving – a 6 percent higher rate than teen drivers.
According to the NHTSA, 21 percent of teen drivers involved in fatal car accidents were distracted by their cellphones. Approximately 11 percent of all drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported as engaging in distracted driving behaviors at the time of the crash.
