July 02--Weight Watchers CEO presentation

TRAVERSE CITY -- Florine Mark, president and CEO of The Weight Watchers Group, will give a presentation on healthy living at the local Weight Watchers center at 2572 Crossing CircleJuly 10 at 10 a.m.

Traverse City School of Dressage opens

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City School of Dressage opened at HMH Farm, an equestrian facility in southern Leelanau County. Health for Boomers program

TRAVERSE CITY -- Munson dietitian Diane Roach and exercise specialist David Block will present tips for healthy eating and active living for the Boomer Generation on July 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Munson Community Health Center's meeting rooms A and B. Long Term Care Specialists launched

TRAVERSE CITY -- Northwest Michigan Long Term Care Specialists is a new team of doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants providing geriatric care to residents in long term and assisted living environments. The staff travels to see patients at their homes.

Renewable energy business works with Dark Horse

COPEMISH -- Contractors Building Supply, Inc. Solar is working with Dark Horse Brewing Company in Marshall and The Green Brewery project to install a large solar electric farm at Dark Horse.

CBS-Solar, based in Copemish, will build the solar panels for the project, which will offset about $6,000 of the brewery's energy costs per year.

Fermenta trade group launched

TRAVERSE CITY -- A trade group initiated by Michigan women committed to diversity, camaraderie, networking and education within the craft beverage industry will launch at the Michigan Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti, July 25Boatyard Brewing Company, Cotton Brewing Company, Dragonmead Microbrewery, Fenton Winery and Brewery, Griffin Claw Brewing Company, Pike 51, Saugatuck Brewing Company, Short's Brewing Company, Unity Vibration Kombucha Beer and Tea, Witch's Hat Brewing and Wolverine State Brewing.

New CT Scanners have lower radiation doses

TRAVERSE CITY -- Munson Medical Center has three CT scan machines that use less radiation than traditional machines. The machines are safer for patients and produce images that are easy for doctors to interpret. Two machines are at Munson's radiology department and one is in the emergency department.

Airway Oxygen named quality respiratory care provider

TRAVERSE CITY -- Airway Oxygen Inc. was named a quality respiratory care provider under a program that makes sure residents cared for by home care organizations have access to respiratory care services provided by qualified respiratory therapists. Airway Oxygen Inc. received this award for the fifth consecutive year, and was the only Durable Medical Equipment Company, in Michigan, to be recognized in 2014.

Successful Aging Series

TRAVERSE CITY -- Dennis Prout, owner of Prout Financial Design, will be the featured speaker at the July 21 Successful Aging Series. Prout will talk about retirement planning for women.
