Bill Mellon Joins WeiserMazars LLP to Co-Lead Governance Risk and Internal Controls Group

NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WeiserMazars LLP is pleased to announce that Bill Mellon has joined the firm's New York office as a Partner.  He will co-lead the firm's Governance, Risk and Internal Control (GRC) team, with comprehensive managerial responsibilities for the Northeast Region.

Mr. Mellon has an extensive background in international auditing and accounting, with specialty focus in providing technical guidance on statutory matters and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards.  Mr. Mellon also has significant experience developing and implementing internal audit, model audit, enterprise risk management and Sarbanes Oxley methods and tools.

As co-head of GRC, Mr. Mellon will oversee consulting around risk management, fraud assessment services, business process improvement, and internal audit co-sourcing and outsourcing. He will also head services connected with compliance in SSAE 16 (formerly SAS 70), Information Technology security, and strategy and solution selection.

Prior to joining WeiserMazars, Mr. Mellon worked in various capacities at international accounting firms, where he created and led auditing functions and addressed compliance requirements. He also provided litigation support on complex insurance and reinsurance transactions and is experienced in implementing risk management processes and coordinating regulator reviews.

Mr. Mellon also spent 11 years leading audit operations for an international insurance organization with more than $10 billion in revenues, where he reported to local Chief Executive Officers, audit committees and the General Auditor responsible for the audit operations of a Third Party Administrator and business units in the US, Bermuda, Canada, and <location value="LC/ch" idsrc="xmltag.org">Switzerland. Additionally, he managed the audit of a centrally based investment operation with a portfolio of over $200 billion.

Mr. Mellon earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from La Salle University.
