Barren County indictments

Feb. 06--GLASGOW -- A Barren County grand jury convened Jan. 31 and returned indictments.

-- Eight co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in December.

James Derek Jackson, 33, and Michael Edward Jackson, 41, both of Cave City; Scotty Ray Wix, 30, and Brittany Jovan Shugart, 25, both of Glasgow; and Roxanne Nichole Whitlow, 32, of Greensburg; were indicted on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, and possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine). Three other people -- Eric Ray Sturgeon, 33, of Cave City; Barry Clinton Martin, 22, of Hodgenville and Jessica Lynn Cawthorn, 28, of Center -- were also charged with the manufacturing count.

James Derek Jackson, Michael Edward Jackson, Wix, Shugart, Cawthorn and Whitlow each were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Jacksons and Sturgeon face charges of being persistent felony offenders, first degree, and Martin and Wix are each charged with being persistent felony offenders, second degree.

Barren-Edmonson-Allen Drug Task Force Detective Ron Lafferty testified.

-- Four co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in December:

Martin and Sturgeon were also indicted with Carnessa Diane Hawkins Childress, 36, of Cave City, and Dustin Tyler Vibbert, 23, of Glasgow, each on a count of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Martin, Sturgeon and Childress were also charged with possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine), second offense.

Martin is also charged with possession of a controlled substance, second degree (hydrocodone), and fleeing or evading police (on foot), second degree. Sturgeon is also charged with being a persistent felony offender, first degree.

Vibbert faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine), and being a persistent felony offender, second degree.

Childress faces additional charges of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first degree; and reckless driving.

Lafferty and Barren County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jimmy Pedigo testified.

-- Martin was also indicted on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first degree; possession of drug paraphernalia; fleeing or evading police (on foot), second degree; and being a persistent felony offender, second degree, related to incidents December.

Lafferty testified in this case as well.

-- Vibbert was also indicted on one count each of receiving stolen property, $500 or more but less than $10,000; receiving stolen property under $500, and being a persistent felony offender, second degree, related to incidents in December.

Glasgow Police Department Officer Nick Houchens testified.

-- Michael Ray Hammer Jr., 39, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count of assault, fourth degree, domestic violence, third offense or more within five years, related to incidents in November.GPD Capt. Charlie Lowery testified.

-- Billy Joe Sanderson, 38, of Cave City, was indicted on a single count each of first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, related to December incidents.

Cave City Police Department Officer Terrell Riley testified.

-- Woodrow J. Short, 53, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count each of operating a motor vehicle while license revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, second offense; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, third offense; failure of owner to maintain required insurance, first offense; careless driving; and possession of open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, related to incidents in June.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Raymond Chambers III testified at the grand jury hearing.

-- Donna J. Landreth-Curry, 58, and Larry Dwayne Smiley, 63, both of Glasgow, were indicted on three counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count each of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor; trafficking in synthetic cannabinoid agonists or piperazines; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of synthetic cannabinoid agonists or piperazines; and possession of marijuana, related to June incidents.

GPD Officer Brandon Fletcher testified.

-- Derek Allen Riggs, 19, of Cave City, was indicted on seven counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument related to incidents in July.

CCPD Maj. Darrell Butler testified.

-- Katrina Marie Coffman, 25, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count each of trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, related to September incidents.

GPD Detective Aaron Cowan testified.

-- Duane C. Thompson, 51, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count each of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methadone), less than 10 dosage unites; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (oxycodone), less than 10 dosage units; possession of drug paraphernalia; and illegal possession of a legend drug, related to October incidents.

GPD Detective Cowan testified.

-- Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in November:

Matthew W. Kinslow, 26, and Shawn Tyler Nuckols, 22, both of Glasgow, on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and first-degree promoting contraband.

Nuckols has additional charges of third-degree possession of a controlled substance and being a persistent felony offender, second degree.

GPD Sgt. Charlie Eubank testified.

-- Jacob Seth Carter, 20, of Glasgow, was indicted on a single count each of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting arrest; second-degree disorderly conduct; and possession of marijuana; related to November incidents.

GPD Officer Fletcher testified.

-- Jerry Taylor Pedigo, 41, of Glasgow, was indicted on a single count each of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and disregarding a stop sign, related to November incidents.

-- Joseph D. Bunch, 22, of Cave City, was indicted on one count each of first-degree theft of a legend drug, first offense or value under $300; tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia; theft by unlawful taking under $500; and possession of marijuana, related to December incidents.

GPD Officer Tammy Britt testified.

-- Daniel A. Paris, 22, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities, related to November incidents.

GPD Sgt. Michael Burton testified.

-- Richard C. Wilson, 49, of Smiths Grove, on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine) with weapon enhancement, and possession of marijuana with weapon enhancement, related to December incidents.

KSP Trooper B.J. Eaton testified.

-- Stewart Orville Stumbaugh, 35, of Bowling Green, was indicted on one count each of receiving stolen property, $500 or more but less than $10,000, and being a persistent felony offender, first degree, related to December incidents.

KSP Trooper Chambers testified.

-- Jamie L. Scarborough, 26, of Edmonton, was indicted on one count each of second-degree robbery and theft by unlawful taking, less than $500, related to December incidents.

GPD Officer Steven Shields testified.

-- Kayla Diana Coleman, 31, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count each of second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking, less than $500, related to December incidents.

GPD Officer Brian Starnes testified.

-- Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to December incidents:

Quinton Bryant Jerome Kirk III, 29, of Bowling Green, on one count each of second-degree robbery and being a persistent felony offender, second degree, along with India Fay McFarlan, 29, of Bowling Green, on a count of complicity to robbery, second degree.

GPD Officer Ashley Jones testified.

-- Jesse D. Bowles, 20, of Glasgow, was indicted on one count each of receiving stolen property, $500 or more but less than $10,000; theft by unlawful taking under $500; and criminal mischief related to incidents in January.

GPD Officer Steven Fields testified.

-- Jeronald Earl Page, 46, of Horse Cave, was indicted on three counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count each of theft by unlawful taking under $500; possession of burglar's tools; possession of drug paraphernalia; alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offenses; and being a persistent felony offender, first degree, related to incidents in December.

GPD Officer Nick Houchens testified.

-- James Gregory Huff, 48, of Cave City, was indicted on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine), second offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia, related to incidents in June 2012.

BCSO Deputy Dean Crumbaugh testified.

-- Ernest Wilson, 43, of Bonnieville, was indicted on one count each of assault, second degree, and being a persistent felony offender, second degree, related to incidents in December.

GPD Sgt. Jarrod Steele testified.

The charges against the individuals are accusations, not convictions.
