BRIEF: Wisconsin’ wait for Social Security Disability Insurance is fourth-worst in the nation [The Wisconsin State Journal]
Apr. 5--Wisconsin has the fourth-worst backlog for Social Security Disability Insurance hearings, which determine if people qualify for the benefits, a new report says.
State residents have to wait an average of more than 18 months to get hearings, about four months longer than the national average, according to disability services provider Allsup.
But the state and national backlogs have improved. The wait time for a hearing in Wisconsin is now 563 days, down from 623 days in September 2008.
