BRIEF: Police arrest 2 on felony theft charges

Feb. 17--Middlesboro police have arrested a man on a felony theft charge.

Micah Jon Hammons, 38, of Middlesboro, was arrested Friday by Officer Barry Cowan and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500.

According to the citation, Hammons pushed out $541 worth of merchandise from Walmart without paying for the items. The items were never recovered. An employee from Walmart Loss Prevention was a witness to the crime.

Hammons was held on a $1,000 cash bond at the Bell County Detention Center. He was released from custody on Sunday.

According to the detention center website, he does not have any prior criminal history from Bell County.

In other police news, MPD Officer Kenny Vanover arrested a Middlesboro woman on a felony theft charge. Bonnie Raske, 31, was arrested Friday for theft by unlawful taking over $500. The warrant was obtained by Officer Anthony Veillon.

Raske was also charged with failure of owner to maintain required insurance. She was held at the detention center on a $1,000 cash bond. She was released shortly after her arrest.
