BRIEF: Officials: Hamilton fire started accidentally [The Salem News, Beverly, Mass.]

Dec. 30--HAMILTON -- Officials have determined that the fire that severely damaged a recently remodeled home at 1 Beech St. was accidental.

"It looks like something might have been up against the light bulb" in the entrance way, fire Chief Philip Stevens said. "What it was, we aren't sure because it was gone."

The fire ignited around 7 p.m. on Dec. 15, while homeowner Sheila Laing was out. No one was injured in the blaze that caused more than $100,000 worth of damage, mainly in the home's front entrance area.

Stevens said Laing's insurance company has assisted her by bringing a trailer onto the property to keep a roof over her head.
