BRIEF: Kerens ISD reacts to threat

May 09--KERENS -- Following the death of a Kerens ISD student at his home this week, the school has removed another student from the campus after a threat was made, according to a news release issued Friday by the Kerens ISD Police Department.

The student who died was sent home from school Tuesday as the result of an investigation involving a threat to campus safety, the release said.

On Wednesday, school officers were notified of a second threat to the school. The student that was alleged to have made the second threat was identified and is no longer on campus, according to the release.

"We have multiple officers on and around campus to insure the safety of all those who are present and attend Kerens ISD," KISD Police Chief Chad Wilhelm said in the release. "There are no known additional threats at this time. We will continue to investigate all areas surrounding these events and will work diligently to keep all of our students, staff, and community safe."
