BRIEF: Hamden Man Charged In Crash That Killed His Nephew

April 30--HAMDEN -- A Hamden man has been charged with negligent homicide for his involvement in the head-on crash that killed his 15-year-old nephew in September, police said.

Keron Troutman, 28, was arrested on April 8, police said Tuesday. He was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast, failure to drive in the proper lane, following too close and operating without insurance.

Troutman's nephew, Tyseem Troutman, was killed in a head-on crash on Dixwell Avenue on Sept. 5, police said. The teen was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Troutman.

Police said the arrest was the result of an "extensive investigation." Troutman has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to be in court on May 20.

Tyseem Troutman was a sophomore at Hamden High School and played on the football team, according to school officials.
