BB&T names Borrello as Wealth Management sales and service director

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --BB&T Corporation (NYSE: BBT) today announced it has named Ralph Borrello as its Wealth Management sales and service director. He is based at 200 S. College St.

Borrello, 52, comes to BB&T with more than 20 years of financial services experience including top leadership positions with various leading wealth management firms. His prior responsibilities range from serving as the managing executive of a national fiduciary services business to managing high performing wealth management sales and service teams regionally. Borrello has significant experience and expertise in promoting business capabilities, fostering partnerships, as well as developing and enhancing wealth- related products and services.

"Ralph has extensive hands-on experience in recruiting and leading high-performing wealth management sales teams," said Wealth Management Division Manager David Fisher. "He has a deep understanding of our capabilities, how our team of professionals needs to work together to deliver a seamless integrated experience for clients, and most importantly he understands the needs of our high net worth clients."

"For the first 10 years of my career, prior to moving into management, I worked directly with high net worth clients," said Borrello. "That experience continually reminds me of how important it is to keep the client at the center of everything we do. While many firms claim to live up to that standard, few actually do. It is gratifying to join a company where delivering the perfect client experience represents more than just words on a mission statement but rather a cornerstone of the company, a standard that all employees strive to achieve every day."

He currently serves as chairman of the Trust Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Bankers Association and is active in a number of social and charitable organizations.

Borrello joins BB&T as a part of its commitment to grow its wealth management business. The Wealth Management division serves clients through 24 regional teams throughout BB&T's footprint. Services are delivered through a team-based model representing a broad array of capabilities including; financial and estate planning, tax sensitive investment management, trust and philanthropic services, risk management as well as credit and baking services. Typical clients include high net worth individuals and families, owners of closely-held businesses, senior corporate executives and professionals with $2 million or more of investable assets or $5 million net worth.
