Aprima to Join Delaware Health Hub

DALLAS, Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Aprima Medical Software announced today that it is now an important new "spoke" in the Delaware Health Hub. The Delaware Health Hub, subsidiary of the Medical Society of Delaware, works in conjunction with the Delaware Health Regional Extension Center (REC) to offer step-by-step help for physicians wanting to adopt electronic health records (EHR), e-prescribing, and other healthcare information technology.

For the Aprima EHR, practice management (PM), and revenue cycle management (RCM) software to be accepted into the Health Hub, it had to meet 10 criteria, including ONC Certification*, ease of use, robust reporting and an interface with the Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN). Aprima demonstrated these capabilities and was accepted as an approved vendor in June 2011. Physicians will be able either to purchase the Aprima system or subscribe to a hosted service.

Mike Metzger, Director of Operations for the Medical Society of Delaware, said, "The Aprima system is well-suited to small practices and it fits in very well with the mix of products we offer. Most of our practices have five or fewer doctors, so big enterprise systems are too cumbersome. Aprima helps doctors connect with their patients, instead of becoming data-entry clerks, and the software is nimble and easy to use."

Aprima enables Delaware physicians to connect to the DHIN, a pipeline of data connecting hospitals, labs, radiologists, and physicians throughout the state. Launched in 2007, the DHIN was the first statewide health information exchange in the U.S. "Delaware has been a role model for helping physicians with HIT adoption, and we're pleased to be part of their network," said Aprima CEO Michael Nissenbaum. "Aprima EHR, PM, and RCM will enable practices to make the most of the DHIN, and we know that doctors will appreciate the time savings and increased revenue they'll see."

Aprima offers a fully integrated, single-application, single-database PM/EHR solution. The user-friendly EHR is chief–complaint-driven and offers adaptive learning capability based on each provider's habits. The comprehensive intuitive knowledge base quickly displays appropriate content based on the presenting chief complaint, speeding up the physician's documentation.  Aprima's robust PM software includes all the tools a busy practice requires to manage its patient population, including insurance eligibility, optical character recognition for automating data input, and built-in reporting capabilities using Microsoft Reporting Services. Aprima's RCM services, coupled with the comprehensive Aprima software, allows practices to maximize their reimbursements and minimize payment time.
