Amica Insurance Selects Weather Fusion’s HailScope to Power Custom Mapping Applications for Claims Handling
| PR Web |
Claims losses and related expenses are the most significant cost to property insurance organizations and subsequently have the largest impact on underwriting profits. It is important to an insurance company's viability that the claims process be effective and efficient. Amica developed custom mapping applications using the Esri ArcGIS platform (Graphical Information System) and overlays HailScope and other critical weather information to evaluate how different perils are affecting their policyholders in real-time.
“Using GIS technology allows us to be much more proactive in our response to policyholder claims after events like tornados and hail storms,” said
The server-based mapping system was deployed to the Amica claims team in April of 2013. A targeted application with real-time feeds is used by managers and supervisors to spot events that could result in an influx of claims. Claim Representatives, adjusters and supervisors use interactive maps within the claims management system to show the proximity of the individual insured risk to the event that caused the claim.
“Insurance carriers need reliable weather verification when evaluating claims,” said
Giuliano then continued, “When Amica first approached us about incorporating hail verification into their claims process, they wanted to confirm HailScope’s accuracy. After engaging in extensive testing to evaluate HailScope against other data sources, Amica has now selected Weather Fusion as its vendor for hail verification. We are proud to have been selected by such a customer-driven carrier as Amica.”
