Aflac Helps Develop Employees Using Harvard ManageMentor® from Harvard Business Publishing

Business Wire, Inc.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- All 4,500 employees of Aflac Incorporated (www.aflac.com) now have access to a learning tool from one of the most recognized names in leadership—Harvard Business Publishing (www.harvardbusiness.org/corporate). Aflac, the number one provider of supplemental insurance in the United States, began offering today its employees Harvard ManageMentor® (www.harvardmanagementor.org), a proven online program for management essentials that addresses a broad range of issues they face every day. Aflac is making the program available to all employees through Harvard Business Publishing’s corporate learning group.

“Harvard ManageMentor puts expert advice from world-renowned business leaders literally at your fingertips,” says Greg Miller, Aflac’s chief learning officer. “Through this program, we are offering Aflac employees an opportunity to learn critical new business skills and brush up existing capabilities and talents.”

With audio downloads, video clips, interactive activities and other tools, Harvard ManageMentor gives users instant access to practical information that can be used immediately to address issues. The 44 modules address fundamental business topics, including business essentials, communication skills, personal development, and strategy essentials.

“Our team is proud to work with Aflac to offer their team the resources and tools they need to be even more successful,” said Ray Carvey, executive vice president, corporate learning and international, Harvard Business Publishing. “This investment in employees fits with Aflac’s reputation as an outstanding employer and with our focus on developing great leaders at all levels of our client organizations.”

Aflac employees will benefit from:

  • Immediate access at any time to a wide variety of content, resources and tools such as worksheets and step-by-step guides to solve specific problems. Examples range from crisis management, to managing upward, to how to lead and motivate.
  • Structured content from notable and respected experts. The issues and topics are specific and highly defined, such as how to negotiate and establish performance measurements.
  • Teaching and mentoring advice for managers who need to lead development discussions with their teams and others, around such topics as persuading others, retaining employees and feedback essentials.
  • Collaboration with others by helping structure informal learning and how to share that learning with others.

“Our employees at every level and throughout the organization are critical to our company’s success,” said Joseph Bohling, Aflac’s senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “It’s important that we offer our employees flexible tools, content and resources that help them do their jobs better every day.”
