$87M Funding Available For Health Insurance Rate Review

WASHINGTON, June 1 -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight has announced that it expects to award a maximum of 57 discretionary grants to support health insurance rate review and increase transparency in health care pricing.
The estimated total program funding available was cited as $87 million with a ceiling of $5 million for each award under this program.
This funding opportunity is open to state governments.
A funding opportunity notice from the Department of Health and Human Services' Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight states: "The purpose of Cycle III of the Rate Review Grant program is to continue the rate review successes of Cycle I and II as well as to provide greater support to Data Centers. By increasing support to Data Centers through the Cycle III FOA, HHS hopes to increase transparency in health care pricing, thereby helping consumers and employers make better health care decisions."
The funding opportunity number is PR-PRP-13-001 (CFDA 93.511). The application closing date is Aug. 1.
