17.93 pounds wins in field of 45 at Thursday Night fishing tourney on Lake Wylie

Lake Wylie Pilot (SC)

May 29--LAKE WYLIE -- The team of Bryan New and Sarah Spear won the May 27 Thursday Night Tournament Trail with a 17.93-pound bag of largemouths.

"This was enough weight to beat out 45 teams to take the win," said Erwin Gaston, who organizes the weekly trail with Jeremy Cabe.

Second place went Ken and Tim Nickerson with a weight of 15.39 pounds. They also caught the big fish of the night, which weighed in at 5.66 pounds.

The trail is sponsored by Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency and Sparks Grading.

Tournaments are held Thursdays through Aug. 27. Registration runs 5:30-6:20 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blast off is at 6:30 p.m. and weigh-in at 11 p.m. The two-night Championship Fish-off is Sept. 11-12.
