Advisor geographic location no longer matters
Geographic distance should no longer be a factor when choosing a financial advisor. Thanks to major advancements in technology, you can now build strong, effective relationships with professionals anywhere — without ever stepping foot in their office.

Consider how we’ve adapted our banking habits over the years. Not long ago, people routinely visited their local branch to handle every financial need. Then came the drive-through teller, followed by the ATM — each step offering more convenience. Today, most people do their banking entirely online or through mobile apps. The need to physically visit a bank is well in the rearview mirror. This same evolution applies to how we interact with financial advisors.
Video conferencing, secure document-sharing platforms and digital signature tools allow you to work with a financial advisor from anywhere in the nation. Whether it’s a strategy session, a portfolio review or discussing major life events, modern tools make the experience just as personal and effective as sitting across the desk from someone.
In fact, imagine the reverse scenario. Let’s say you hired a local financial advisor, built trust over years and then relocated across the country. Most people wouldn’t start from scratch — they would keep the advisor they know and trust. That proves the relationship matters far more than location.
Choosing a financial advisor should also be about finding the right fit: someone who understands your goals, communicates clearly, is attentive to your needs and brings valuable expertise to the table. Limiting yourself to local options could mean missing out on a relationship that better aligns with your needs.
In today’s world, the ideal advisor may no longer be the one down the street or the one who is most geographically convenient. Allow technology to erase the miles and focus on finding the right fit — no matter where they’re located.
