Blogging Helps Educate Life Insurance Prospects

One thing I’ve learned, as an insurance professional operating in the Digital Age, is that content is king. Writing about insurance is not always an easy task. Yes, policies such as auto and home tend to be fairly easy to craft content around because there are many different approaches you can take. People understand home insurance and they know that they need auto coverage – making it easier for them to digest and relate to your content.
Not all policies, however, are that easy to blog about. Take life insurance for example. For many prospects, life insurance may seem like a somber topic. But, with the right approach, you can turn a difficult topic into a positive message. Not to mention you are now presented with the opportunity to educate your clients and prospects about their coverage options and needs, as well as provide them with a potential solution to a problem they may not have realized they have.
Now, more than ever, life insurance has become an important policy to blog about. Why? Well, believe it or not, life insurance is on the decline. According to LIMRA’s “2011 Life Insurance Ownership Study,” only one-third of Americans are covered by individual life insurance plans. This is the lowest number in 50 years. With such a decline in this policy, it’s impossible not to be alarmed. This is exactly why it is imperative for us to take the time to educate Americans on the importance of life insurance through our blogging efforts.
In order for these informational blog posts to be read, it is important to keep content exciting and fresh. Not many people want to read about the possibility of an early death – or even death in general. There are, however, ways around this serious topic. If you can speak about such a grave policy in a positive manner, then you will see great results and feedback.
Here are a few ways to transform your life insurance information into an interesting and uplifting blog post:
- Tips on how to be stress-free. No one enjoys the stresses of life. Use your blogging content to educate people on how to minimize stress and have a handle on their mood. Readers are sure to appreciate the tips and find it interesting. Of course, having a life insurance policy in place is one great way to avoid stress.
- Discuss life insurance advantages. Many people are not educated on life insurance enough to choose a policy. By discussing the advantages in your blog, you will show your clients how life insurance will affect their loved ones.
- Tips on how to add years to your life. From eating certain foods to staying active, there are always ways to keep your mind, body and soul healthy. A healthy life helps to make a long life.
- Bad habits to avoid that will affect your life span. Habits such as smoking, excessive drinking or overeating will all affect your health and, ultimately, your life span. Smoking will literally take years off of a person’s life as well as up their life insurance premium. That is definitely something to inform your readers about.
It’s important to keep these blogging ideas in mind the next time you sit down to write about life insurance. No matter which idea or best practice you use, you are sure to receive great feedback and see results. Life insurance is an important policy to educate your clients on, especially since ownership is declining. As long as you keep it positive, educational and relatable you should not have any trouble writing about this insurance policy – and helping your clients understand the importance of an individual life insurance plan.
