BALTIMORE, Nov. 26 -- DLA Piper issued the following news release:
Franz Althuber, partner and head of Tax at DLA Piper'sVienna office, advised the Catlin-Group on the restructuring of their Austrian business. The core of the project was a cross-border merger of Catlin Innsbruck GmbH with the German Cologne based sister company Catlin GmbH including the establishment of subsidiaries in Innsbruck and Vienna.
"Besides the Corporate, Employment and Tax law advice and implementation, the mandate also included advice on all Insurance law aspects. An international restructuring of this size is always a legal and organisational challenge. Our international presence and longstanding experience - especially with cross-border mergers - were decisive for the smooth handling of the project. The cooperation with our German colleagues as well as with the Catlin Europe inhouse-team worked very well," said Althuber.
The Catlin-Group is one of the world's leading insurance and reinsurance corporations. Catlin Europe is the primary insurance unit of the European hub and one of six regional centres of the group.
The Vienna team was led by Franz Althuber and consisted of Daniel Varro (Tax), Stephan Nitzl (Employment) and Maria Althuber-Griesmayr (Insurance). The German part of the transaction was handled by Andreas Meyer-Landrut and Bettina Haider from DLA Piper'sCologne office.
