Charleston’s Jefferson Awards Recognize Unsung Heroes Serving the Community
CHARLESTON, SC - Every year the Jefferson Awards ceremony recognizes heroes who serve selflessly through volunteer and advocacy work in their community. The 2017 National Awards Ceremony were held on June 23rd in Washington, D.C. They shone a spotlight on the acts of seven individuals from the Charleston community who saw a need and helped alleviate it through their dedication and vision.
George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers are proud partners with ABC News 4 in helping organize and present this celebration of our local heroes who assisted those in need throughout Charleston, the state of South Carolina, and the nation as a whole. News broadcasts and recognition of our community’s heroes helps highlight the positive difference an individual can make, hopefully inspiring more charitable acts.
This year’s South Carolina Jefferson Award recipients include:
-
The 11-year-old I Heart Hungry Kids Founder, who helped feed 21,000 malnourished children

Founded by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Samuel Beard and Senator Robert Taft, these awards demonstrate the power of caring and hard-work. Past recipients of the National Jefferson Award include astronaut John Glenn and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Altogether, there have been 50,000 Jefferson Award honors presented to people who offer inspiring acts of self-sacrifice and public service.
