Jan. 19--A Wilson insurance agent's participation in the Affordable Care Act federal health insurance marketplace has earned an award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Alan Winstead of Farm Bureau Insurance has been named to the HealthCare.gov Circle of Champions for 2018, according to a letter of congratulations indicating Winstead "helped individuals and families make from 20 to 99 plan selections during this year's open enrollment period."
"Thank you for the work you have done to help your clients weigh their coverage options and enroll in coverage that meets their needs," Randy Pate, director of the Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight and deputy administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Winstead received a certificate of recognition and is entitled to display the HealthCare.gov Circle of Champions badge on his website and in promotional materials.
Officials said 8.8 million people signed up for Affordable Care Act marketplace health plans in the 39 states that use HealthCare.gov, including North Carolina, by the Dec. 15 open enrollment deadline, and more than 2.5 million had enrolled in plans offered through state-run insurance exchanges.
Winstead is also a member of the North Carolina Department of Insurance'sHealth Insurance Task Force. His Farm Bureau office is located at 3542 Airport Blvd. NW.
